Han

الأصل والتاريخ

The Han surname derives from the ancient state of Han, one of the Seven Warring States, located in present-day Shanxi and Henan provinces. When Han was conquered by Qin in 230 BC, its people adopted Han as their surname. The name is also associated with the Haan commandery. In Korea, the same character (韓) is used for the Korean ethnicity and the surname Han, reflecting ancient cultural connections.
