Song

Herkunft & Geschichte

The Song surname originates from the ancient state of Song, a Zhou Dynasty principality established for the descendants of the Shang Dynasty royal family after the Zhou conquest. The state was located in modern Henan province and was ruled by dukes who maintained Shang ritual traditions. The Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), famous for commerce and the arts, also lent prestige to the name.
