Origen e historia

Kato is another 'to' surname derived from Fujiwara lineage, with 'Ka' referring to Kaga Province (present-day Ishikawa Prefecture) and 'to' representing wisteria (Fujiwara descent). Families of Fujiwara lineage who served in or migrated to the Kaga region adopted this name. The Kato clan became renowned samurai during the Sengoku period, most famously through the general Kato Kiyomasa who participated in the invasion of Korea.
