Origine et histoire

The Dong surname originates from Dong Fu, an official of the Xia Dynasty famed for his skill in taming and breeding dragons. He was granted the surname Dong (meaning 'to supervise') by Emperor Shun for his services. A second origin traces the name to the ancient state of Dong in Shandong province. The surname is dispersed throughout northern and central China.
