Origine et histoire

Dương is the Sino-Vietnamese form of 楊 (Yáng), meaning 'white poplar tree.' The character is associated with the Sui Dynasty imperial family of China. The surname arrived in Vietnam during periods of close Sino-Vietnamese cultural contact and is found throughout the country. It is particularly associated with the Dương clan that briefly held power during the early Đinh Dynasty period.
