Origine et histoire

The Feng surname traces its origins to the ancient Feng region granted to Ji Chang (King Wen of Zhou) by the Shang king, located in present-day Shaanxi. After the Zhou conquest, several princes were enfeoffed there and adopted Feng as their surname. A separate origin links the name to a general of the Spring and Autumn period. The character 馮 originally referred to wading through water on horseback.
