Origine et histoire

Ngô is the Sino-Vietnamese pronunciation of 吳 (Wú), the name of the ancient kingdom of Wu in the Yangtze River delta, one of the Three Kingdoms of China. The surname entered Vietnam through the long period of Sinicization and is associated with the Ngô Dynasty (939–967), founded by Ngô Quyền after his famous victory over Southern Han forces on the Bạch Đằng River in 938 AD.
