Origine et histoire
Suzuki originates from the ritual bell-tree (鈴木) used in Shinto harvest ceremonies at the Kumano Grand Shrine in present-day Wakayama Prefecture. Shrine priests and attendants took the name from this sacred object, and it spread as Kumano faith propagators (called Oshi) traveled across Japan during the medieval period. The surname is particularly concentrated in Aichi, Shizuoka, and the Tokai region.
