Origine et histoire
Trịnh is the Sino-Vietnamese form of 鄭 (Zhèng), the name of an important Zhou-dynasty state that produced refined ritual culture and music. In Vietnamese history, the Trịnh lords (Chúa Trịnh) dominated northern Vietnam for nearly two centuries (1545–1787), effectively ruling in the name of the powerless Lê emperors in a period of partition known as the Lê–Mạc and Trịnh–Nguyễn conflicts.
