Origine et histoire

The Ye surname (葉/叶) traces its origins to Shen Zhuliang, a minister of the state of Chu during the Spring and Autumn period who was enfeoffed in Ye (now in Henan province). He was also known as Ye Gong, famous for 'Ye Gong's fondness of dragons' — a proverb for loving something in theory but fearing it in practice. The surname is common in Guangdong, Fujian, and overseas Cantonese communities where it appears as Ip.
