Origine et histoire

The Zeng surname derives from Zeng Shen (Zengzi), a direct disciple of Confucius and author of the Great Learning (大學), who is venerated as the 'Ancestor of the Zeng Clan'. His ancestors ruled the ancient state of Zeng in present-day Shandong. The surname is especially common in Fujian, Taiwan, and Hakka communities, where it is often romanised as Tseng or Chan.
