The Yangcheon Heo clan traces its ancestry to Heo Seon-mun, a descendant of the Indian Princess Heo Hwang-ok, who according to legend traveled from Ayodhya to marry King Suro of Gaya in 48 AD. The Heo surname was later granted to a branch of the Gimhae Kim royal family.
