Devi

Devi is Sanskrit for 'goddess' or 'divine woman', derived from 'deva' (god). It is one of the most sacred female names in Hinduism, referring to the supreme goddess in Shakta traditions — the embodiment of divine feminine power (Shakti). Devi is worshipped across India in her many forms including Durga, Kali, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. As a given name, it is especially common in South India, West Bengal, and Nepal, often as a standalone name or as a religious suffix.
