Происхождение и история

Đỗ is the Sino-Vietnamese form of 杜 (Dù), associated with an ancient Chinese place name and the wild pear tree. The surname is linked in Chinese history to the legendary figure Du Kang, credited with inventing liquor. In Vietnam, the name arrived through the long period of Chinese cultural transmission and is well represented among Vietnam's historical Confucian scholar-officials.
