Nguồn gốc & Lịch sử

Derived from the Middle English and Anglo-Norman 'Waleis' or 'le Waleis', meaning 'the Welshman' — indicating a person of Welsh origin or one who came from Wales. The name was brought to Ireland by Welsh settlers who arrived with the Anglo-Norman invasion of the twelfth century, and Walsh families quickly established themselves as one of the 'Tribes of Galway' and among the most powerful Anglo-Norman dynasties in Connacht and Munster. Despite its ultimately Welsh ethnic descriptor origin, Walsh has been thoroughly absorbed into Irish identity for over eight centuries.
