起源与历史

Derived from the Finnish dialectal adjective 'korho', meaning 'deaf' or 'hard of hearing', combined with the highly productive diminutive suffix '-nen'. The suffix '-nen' is the most characteristic feature of Finnish surnames, appearing in roughly two-thirds of all native Finnish family names and indicating smallness, origin, or familial belonging. Korhonen originated as a regional nickname in eastern Finland, particularly in the province of Savo, where it remains most concentrated to this day. It has been the most or second most common surname in Finland for well over a century.
