由来と歴史
Patronymic surname meaning 'son of Jens', the Danish and Norwegian form of Johannes, from Hebrew 'Yohanan' meaning 'God is gracious'. Jens is a specifically Danish-Norwegian short form distinct from the more widely used Hans or Johan, and it became extremely common as a given name in Norway and Denmark during the Lutheran Reformation period when biblical names were favoured.
