The Cho (楚) surname refers to a very rare Korean clan whose hanja character 楚 represents the ancient state of Chu in China, distinct from the far more common Cho/Jo characters 趙 and 曹. This Cho clan has extremely limited records and remains one of Korea’s smallest surnames.
