由来と歴史

Dubey is derived from the Sanskrit 'dvivedi', meaning 'one who has mastered two Vedas'. It is a Brahmin surname prevalent in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. Dubeys were traditionally Sanskrit scholars and teachers who commanded respect as knowers of the sacred Vedic texts. The related form Dwivedi is used more commonly in western Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
