Gupta

由来と歴史

Gupta derives from the Sanskrit 'guptá', meaning 'protected' or 'secret'. It is predominantly associated with the Vaishya (trading and merchant) caste of North India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. The name gained enormous prestige from the Gupta Empire (320–550 CE), one of the golden ages of ancient India, when science, mathematics, astronomy, and art flourished.
