Nakamura

由来と歴史

Nakamura means 'middle village' (中村) and is a topographic surname for families residing in a centrally located village or the central part of a district. It arose independently across many regions of Japan during the Nara and Heian periods as communities organized themselves around rice cultivation. The name is widespread nationwide but is particularly prevalent in Aichi, Osaka, and Fukuoka prefectures.
