Turunen
기원 및 역사
A regional surname derived from 'Turku' — the old Swedish-influenced form rendered in Finnish as 'Turku' — or from a related dialectal root, combined with '-nen'. More precisely, Turunen is thought to derive from an older form of the place name associated with the southwestern city of Turku (Swedish: Åbo), Finland's former capital, or from 'turu', a dialectal word for a cattle enclosure or fair. The name is most prevalent in North Karelia and South Savo, eastern Finland, which may seem paradoxical given the western roots of 'Turku', but reflects the eastward migration of Savonian settlers in the 16th and 17th centuries.
