Происхождение и история
Ikeda means 'pond rice field' (池田) and refers to paddy fields irrigated by a pond, a common agricultural landscape feature in Japan. The Ikeda clan of the Sengoku period was a powerful samurai family in Owari Province (Aichi), closely allied with Oda Nobunaga. Their branch at Ikeda in Settsu Province (Osaka) also became prominent. The surname is especially common in Osaka, Hyogo, and Okayama prefectures.
