Origen e historia

Deshmukh is a Marathi compound surname from 'desha' (country/region) and 'mukha' (head/face), meaning 'head of the territory' or 'district chief'. During the Maratha Empire, Deshmukhs were hereditary village or district revenue officers and local administrators, often from the Kunbi, Maratha, or Brahmin communities of Maharashtra. The title was formally recognized under the Peshwa administration.
