由来と歴史

Namgung is one of Korea’s rare two-character (compound) surnames, literally meaning ‘Southern Palace.’ The Hamyang Namgung clan is the primary branch, tracing descent from Chinese officials who served in the Goryeo royal court. The surname remains associated with aristocratic prestige despite its small population.
