由来と歴史
Ota means 'great rice field' (太田) with 太 (oo/tai) conveying largeness and abundance. The name arose as a topographic surname for families with particularly large or fertile paddy land. The most famous Ota clan were the lords of Edo Castle (present-day Tokyo Imperial Palace), which was built by Ota Dokan in 1457, making the Ota clan the original lords of what would become Japan's capital.
